The eagle has landed.
After a year in the making, and a whirlwind first month, we are settling into our new North Shore home and loving being part of Lower Lonsdale’s vibrant neighbourhood. If you’ve had the chance to visit the North Vancouver shop, you’ve met me. I’m Torrie, and LOOBY DOO is the curiously serendipitous business adventure I find myself on alongside our amazing team, families, friends and you, our LD community. Welcome!
Our shop story is a classic tale involving all the romance, twists, turns, chapter-ending cliffhangers, and nearly fatal moments one would assume of an entrepreneurial pursuit. At the root of it all, the theme is timeless and simple: what is, and what is possible? It’s an exploration of expression; an invitation to relate, converse, and celebrate; and an idea for what it means to empower women by redefining how we work, find connection and experience joy.
Many have had a hand in Looby Doo’s existence which began with opening the doors to our first, and still going strong, storefront in Vancouver’s beachside suburb of White Rock nearly five years ago. From our namesake’s original founder and forever shop-mama, to our longtime mentors and collaborators who have believed in and guided us, and to our devoted local customers who give us the privilege of being part of your lives, thank you!

Most recently, we had the esteemed pleasure of working with Mansouri Design as our partners for the design-build of our new flagship boutique. Their artistic vision, original design and thoughtful details captured the essence of the Looby Doo brand beyond our imagination and elevated its foundation to new heights. Every day when I walk into the shop, I still can’t quite grasp how we made it here, and how fortunate I feel to set out on this next chapter.
